Safety study
Separation anxiety and noise aversion are common behavioral problems in dogs. A novel botanical anxiolytic product containing Souroubea app. vine and Platanus spp. bark was evaluated for safety in dogs. The principal active ingredient in the Souroubea/Platanus blend is betulinic acid. Brave Paws delivers this in a chewable at a recommended dose of 10 milligrams of betulinic acid for a 10 kilogram (22 pound) dog. Clinical studies showed that even five times this dose is safe.
Clinical studies
A novel botanical dietary supplement containing Souroubea vine and Platanus (sycamore) bark, was tested in dogs to measure their response to thunderstorm noise-induced stress.
Anxiety in dogs
As many as 72.5% of dogs suffer from anxiety due to different stimuli (Petroff, 2018). Situations that can cause anxiety in dogs include noise sensitivity, strong fear in response to strangers, fear of heights, and being left alone.
